This guy spent just as much time becoming a director of addiction alternatives as the average "addicted" gamer spends gaming. Sooo, why isn't this guy deemed addicted to his career? He likely neglected his family, health, friendships, etc. logging thousands of hours to build up his career.
The difference is that the ruling class deems Kern to be a productive member of the working class...and gamers aren't.
Productivity is the ruling class's litmus test of sanity.
Funny you mention this. Did you know that the Psych industry actually considered being black a psychological illness at one point? Check out Ben Rush.
The ruling class's Psych industry has always declared anything counter to working class productivity as an illness. I'm not bashing psychology in general, just the goverment's psych authority (currently, the APA). In fact, all govt authority orgs work to destroy anything counter to working class productivity.
Gamers do have friends (they are just online), do learn (combining skills, powers, armor...commands, exploring, etc.), do have multiple ways to have fun (PvP'ing, questing, raiding, guilding, crafting, leveling, etc.), etc. But those types of friends, learning, having fun detract from one becoming a productive member of the working class...thus, it is deemed a psychological illness by the ruling class.
This is the dark side of capitalism.

wtf is this guy saying??\
Yeah, that is just as ignorant as racism. "That guy isn't normal because he's black" is just as stupid as "That guy isn't normal because he plays video games" so technically, the whole anti-gaming media scene is based on intolerance. So just because I play games I'm not normal? I also enjoy jogging, is that wrong? What about books? That's also sedentary and time-consuming. Oh, but that's ok because old people are doing it, gaming is strange because it wasn't around in the 60s.
EXACTLY. Ask those people who deride gamers how often do they check their facebook pages? Or use Twitter? Or text?
Who precisely determines what an adult human being should be doing with their time?
I spend a lot of money on video games and spend a lot of time playing them. However, I also have a personal life. How is that possible?
Well, I play them a lot because I really like them, not because I'm addicted.
These people that keep talking about video game addiction are just clueless, they don't realize that us skilled players have FUN while playing a game, of course we would like to do it more and more. I got a question: How much music do you listen to?
who is at risk? pretty much anyone who can't balance their life, in other words, YOUR AN IDIOT.
this guy just like to put fine words after another but doesnt have a clue whats hes talking about...
