In your everyday life, you can do things that will minimise the effects of anxiety. Whether you are experiencing mild anxiety, occasional nervousness or severe and regular panic attacks, simple tasks can help you to deal effectively with anxiety.

 

Dealing with Anxiety by Way of Relaxation

Tension and stress often contribute to the development of anxiety. This is why it is always a good idea to find ways to relieve stress and tension before it builds up too much. The best and easiest way to do this is breathing deeply. This relaxes the major nerve that runs through your diaphragm to your brain, and sends signals to the rest of your body to relax. Tai chi and yoga produce similar effects on your body. The more relaxed your body is, the more relaxed your mind becomes as well.

But be aware that some generally accepted forms of relaxation like drinking alcohol and watching TV all day are not truly helpful in relieving stress. At best, these things can only temporarily relieve stress and tension, and in some cases, they even add more tension into your life. So don’t take these forms of relaxation as real ways to ease stress.

 

How to Deal with Anxiety by Living Healthy

Whilst you can relieve tension and stress from your body in order to minimise the chances of anxiety cropping up, you can also more generally keep your body healthy for the same reasons. By eating healthy types of food, getting enough sleep and exercising regularly, you can keep your body in top shape, not only giving you a tension-free body but a happier outlook on life too. A body that operates to the utmost of its potential is less prone to anxiety compared to an unhealthy body.

 

How to Deal with Anxiety by Spending Time with Friends and Family

Having your friends and family around you will generally give you a sense of security and safety. This will reduce feelings of uncertainty, leading you to worry about things less. The worst thing you can do when dealing with anxiety is cut yourself off from the rest of the world.
