Mixing Mephedrone With Other Drugs

Back

Combining drugs is always risky and there is no guarantee that one combination is safer than another. The following risks may be present when mixing mephedrone with other drugs.

Mephedrone and cocaine

Both of these drugs are stimulants and cause significant dilation of the veins and arteries. A combination of the two can put a significant strain on the heart and cause convulsions and cardiac problems. Combining mephedrone and cocaine can also increase feelings of anxiety, paranoia and panic.

Mephedrone and ketamine

This is a fairly popular combination due to the hallucinogenic effects it creates – and also the ‘buffer’ it can create against negative feelings, when withdrawing from mephedrone.

Yet users run the risk of injury and blackouts as ketamine is a powerful anesthetic

Mephedrone and alcohol

Some people find the effects of mixing alcohol with mephedrone very unpleasant. It can cause dehydration, nausea, bad hangovers and even amnesia. As alcohol can remove inhibitions, it can be harder to moderate the amount of mephedrone being used and increase the risk of bingeing.

"We'd have to say that this drug is probably worse in some ways, in terms of the violence, than some of the other drugs like cocaine and heroin"
