Video Description

We live in a society which profits off of our low feelings of self worth. Our feelings of inadequacy, of insecurity. We are constantly being bombarded with images of "perfect" women with looks that are next to unattainable. We grow up as young girls believing that our confidence and value should stem from looking like these constructed images of "beauty". We grow up not being valued for our intelligence, or charisma, or our passions. And as all of this is happening, we are brainwashed into consuming food that is causing our physical and mental health to decline. Then, the diet industry steps in and attempts to con us into buying products and quick fixes we "need" to look that way, while failing to confront the actual problem. We are distracted from actual issues of importance, consumed with the idea that once we look like HER, once we are thinner, once we have thighs that don't touch, we will somehow be happy. I was consumed with this mindset for a very long time, and while I may have gotten the results I wanted for a time being, I honestly say that I was the most miserable I have been in my entire life. Happiness is derived from raw, innate connections with those around you, from memories and experiences, from accepting who you are at a soul level, and making the conscious decision to love who you are every single day.
